A Letter from Stine

Hi,

And a very warm welcome to the very first A Letter from Stine.

Some of you signed up for this letter yourselves. Others are receiving it because you have previously been a customer of mine, followed my work through MOMfidence, or have been part of my network in some way.

I wanted to invite you to be here from the beginning, but of course, staying should always be your choice. If this letter isn't relevant to you, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of this email.

To those of you who choose to stay: Thank you. I'm truly grateful that you're here.

I've spent some time thinking about what I really want this letter to be.

Not what would be smartest to write about.

Not what would generate the most clicks.

But what I actually want to use my voice for.

And the answer has become increasingly clear:

I want to share more about God. About faith. About leadership. And about what it looks like when our faith becomes part of how we actually live.

Not because I have all the answers.

Quite the opposite.

But because I've discovered how much begins to change when I stop trying to figure everything out on my own.

If we don't know each other yet

My name is Stine Marie Alme.

I'm a wife, a mother of five, a qualified nutrition advisor and an entrepreneur. I've worked with people, sales, business and leadership for many years.

I've always been very good at setting goals.

Working hard.

Performing.

Finding the next step.

And when one path didn't work, my answer was often to work even harder.

But over the past few years - and especially during the last six months - God has challenged much of what I once believed strength looked like.

Because what is the point of getting somewhere quickly if we're running in the wrong direction?

Six months I wouldn't trade

The past six months have been different.

I've had more time with my family.

I've continued building MOMfidence.

I've read a lot about leadership.

I've finished writing a book.

And I've spent more time reading the Bible and being with God.

That last part may have been the most important of all.

I'm beginning to understand more and more that not every season of life is meant to produce something visible.

Some seasons are about roots.

About foundations.

About becoming quiet enough to listen.

And about allowing God to work in us before He works through us.

It hasn't always been easy.

I'm still impatient.

I like knowing what's going to happen next. Preferably when it will happen and exactly how it's going to happen too.

But I'm learning.

"Be still, and know that I am God"

There is one Bible verse I keep returning to:

"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10

For someone who loves progress, plans and action, the words be still can almost feel like a challenge in themselves.

But perhaps sometimes that's exactly what we need.

Not another strategy.

Not another plan.

Not another goal.

Just time with God.

I think we live in a world where it's incredibly easy to measure our worth by the things that can be counted.

Results.

Money.

Titles.

Followers.

Achievements.

But God doesn't measure people the way the world does.

And that is also changing the way I want to lead.

Leadership looks different to me now

I've worked with leadership for many years, but I think my understanding of what a leader actually is has changed more in the past few months than it has in a long time.

I'm less interested in how many people follow a leader.

I'm more interested in what happens to the people who do.

Do people become greater around me - or do I become greater at their expense?

Do I see the person before the result?

Do I help others discover what God has placed within them?

Do I hold on to my values even when no one is watching?

Can I genuinely celebrate someone else's success as much as I celebrate my own?

These are questions I want to carry with me moving forward.

Because I don't believe Christian leadership is simply about adding a Bible verse to something we had already decided to do.

I believe it begins by asking:

God, what do You want me to do?

And then being willing to listen to the answer.

Gratitude

Right now, more than anything, I feel grateful.

For my family.

For the people God has brought into my life.

For the opportunity to work and create.

For good health and for the days when my body allows me to do the things I want to do.

For new doors.

And also for some of the doors that have closed.

Because I'm beginning to see more clearly that I don't always know which doors I actually need to walk through.

God does.

A small thank you to you

One of the things I've spent time doing during this season is finishing my new book:

Building Business With and Without God - One Woman's Journey from Performance to Peace

And because you're here for the very first edition of this newsletter, I would love to give you the digital edition completely free.

Not as a sales campaign.

Simply as a way of saying:

Thank you for being here and for following this journey.

Despite the title, the book is about much more than business.

It's about performance and identity.

About mistakes I've made.

About leadership.

About trying to build through my own strength.

And about what began to change when I stopped asking God to bless my plans - and started asking more often what His plan was.

I hope something in these pages speaks to you.

Read the book for free

Where do we go from here?

From now on, A Letter from Stine will arrive on the 20th of every month.

I don't know exactly what every letter will be about.

And I actually like it that way.

I want to leave room for God here too.

We'll talk about the Bible.

About faith in everyday life.

About leadership.

About gratitude.

About family, health and everyday life when it feels natural to do so.

About mistakes.

About learning.

And about those seasons when we may not understand what God is doing until we look back.

I hope this can become a small place to pause in your inbox.

A place with less noise.

More reflection.

And more room for God.

If even one of these letters encourages someone to open their Bible again, pause in the middle of a busy day, see another person a little more clearly, or ask God for direction before taking the next step, then writing it will have been worthwhile.

Thank you for being here from the very beginning.

I'll write to you again on September 20.
